Nike Knows Soccer, er Football

Nike just released this 2 minute spot for the upcoming UEFA 2008 European Championship, and let me tell you, it bloody well kicks some freaking arse! The theme is Take It To The Next Level, and it places the viewer in a very cool, very unique first-person point of view. You see what it's like to be out on the pitch in a game, playing against some of today's best players, including Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and of course, Ronaldinho. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the spot exudes all of the excitement and fervor that comes with the game. If you're not pumped up, head-butting strangers on the street, listening to shitty Eurotrash with a fucked up grill by the end of this spot, then you're a dirty Yank without a soul, and can rightly go piss off. Click here for a much better, hi-def version of the spot.

Coldplay :: Violet Hill

Coldplay announced today on their website that they're releasing the new single off of their upcoming album for free via download, but for only one week. Radiohead-ish? For sure. But who cares? The new album, Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends is set to be released on June 17, with a world tour to come soon after. Check out the new single.

6 Things That Really Suck About Coachella

The Coachella Music and Arts Festival is going on this weekend, and it draws bigger and bigger crowds each year. The lineup this year looks insane, with headliners ranging from Portishead and Prince to Roger Waters and....Jack Johnson? Well, 3 out of 4 ain't bad. Just like every festival though, it has it's ups and downs. Here's 6 things that really suck about Coachella.

Vampire Weekend Kicks A Mad Beat

Mix Vampire Weekend with a marching bands' drumline and you get a pretty kick ass combo. Check out their performance of Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa on Jimmy Kimmel.

One Month & Counting

That's right. Today marks the official one month countdown until the release of the next Indiana Jones movie. From here on out, you can pretty much expect to see me with a perpetual hard-on each and every day until I see this flick. You've been warned.

Coen Bros. Mashup

The Coen Brothers are awesome. It's as simple as that. Any movie they put their touch on is usually going to be pretty kickass. This mashup shows just how similar yet unique each of their pictures truly are. The Dude would approve.

Feist Sings Real Good

I went and saw Feist this past Wednesday night, and I noticed something. This girl can sing. Like, really sing. She has an unbelievable voice, and the show was a very unique, creative one at that. Hell, she had a team of shadow puppet artists, doing all sorts of crazy shit, interpreting the songs in a really fresh way. She performed practically all of her big hits, including My Moon My Man, I Feel It All, Mushaboom, One Two Three Four, Gatekeeper and, as an encore, the rocking Sea Lion Woman. There are very few artists who sound as good live as they do on their recordings, but she's one of the very few who may actually sound BETTER in person, if that's even possible. Her latest release made my list of best albums from last year. Count on this show making the list of best shows from this year.

God Bless Pop-Ups

Watching this video makes me wanna go home and ditch all of those fancy pants, high-class "novels" I'm always reading and start getting back into the always incredible pop-up books from my youth. They're still as mesmerizing as when I was 7 years old.

ACL 2008 Lineup Is Here

That's right, kids! Today is the big day that the Austin City Limits Music Festival's 2008 Lineup is announced, and so far, it looks pretty damn promising. Everyone from the Foo Fighters, Beck and the Raconteurs to the Black Keys, Band of Horses and my new favorite live act, Gogol Bordello, will be making appearances. But one of the most awesome tidbits of news is that finally, the organizers have wrangled the Mars Volta in making an appearance, which makes this boy's pee pee very very happy. Check out the full lineup here. See you all out there.

Midnight Vignette

This is the video for the song Midnight Vignette from the awesomely psychadelic group Evangelicals. Before watching, be sure to roll a fat doobie and smoke that bitch, then grab a Mr. Pibb and a pack of red vines and get ready to trip some serious balls. For some reason, they always frown upon this while I'm at work.

The Fall

For those that may not have heard of this movie, get ready to be blown away. It comes out in a few weeks, and it looks incredible. Check it out.

Skate Or Die

This is the intro to the Lakai-produced skate movie Fully Flared, directed by the always incredible Spike Jonze. Beautiful in it's simplicity, it features awesome skate tricks and some phat 'splosions set against M83's Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun. What else could you possibly want?

Reporters Getting Pwned

This might be the best compilation of reporters getting completely owned that I've ever seen. This will make your day.

Side note: Be sure to turn the volume up at the end, because hilarity ensues.

The Mars Volta :: Live In Dallas, TX

As usual, the Mars Volta took over the Palladium Ballroom on Tuesday night, with a performance to remember for quite some time. Playing selections from all of their albums, the music never let up for almost 3 straight hours. Cedric, Omar and the rest of the guys threw down in a display of writhing rock n' roll that you have to see to believe. Kudos to you, gentlemen, for you have not ceased to amaze once again.

On a side note, my roommate got to hang with the band backstage. I now have an intense hatred towards him and am currently accepting ideas on how to snuff him out. Any and all ideas will be thoroughly considered.

Thank you. - Mgmt.

Laser Cats in 3D

This might be one of the best reasons to start watching SNL again. "It looks like the cat's got his tongue." Pure genius.

Bedlam In Dallas Tonight

WARNING: The Mars Volta are coming to wreck shop tonight in Dallas. If you live anywhere in the surrounding area, get yourself to the Palladium Ballroom immediately. Do not seek shelter. Get out in the open and rock your ass off at extremely high rates. Repeat until rocking has subsided and/or you pass out from the inevitable euphoria that accompanies the awesomeness.

Thank you. - Mgmt.

Boogity Boogity Boogity

It's time to go racing! This Sunday I'll be out with the other 200,000 NASCAR fanatics getting rowdy and drunk as skunks watching these guys push their cars to 200 mph in a show of guts and skill. Hot damn! Gentlemen, start your engines. This should help get you pumped for racing.

Grizzly Bear :: The Knife

I'm a huge fan of artistic, kick ass, visionary music videos. There used to be a time where these artists of the genre actually had their work aired on television. Alas, those days seem to be gone, replaced by shows such as The Hills and Flava of Love. Because of this epidemic of crap, I'm going to start sharing kickass videos with all of you. They need to be seen, and I'm gonna do my part. First up, the video for The Knife by Grizzly Bear. This is a crazy ass video, featuring some really cool effects created by the geniuses at Encyclopedia Pictura, who have also done other fantastic work, including Bjork's new video, Wanderlust. A must see as well.
